(L-R) Spencer Brooks, Wayne Barker and Yamaha Audio's Mike Case.
UK - Wayne Barker's WE Audio were busy shoppers at this year's PLASA Show, as they boosted their inventory in preparation for several key events for which they will be providing the audio reinforcement. Among several items purchased from their preferred suppliers, Marquee Audio, were two 52-channel Yamaha PM5000 desks.

A long-time customer of both Marquee and Yamaha, Wayne Barker has created a niche for himself in the industry for servicing one-off specialist projects, musical theatre tours (including Dionne Warwick and Elaine Paige), and corporate events. All this activity has necessitated he purchase of the new Yamaha desks, which he will be debuting on two upcoming West End events.

The shows in this case will be a Tribute To Richard Harris at the Strand Theatre and a corporate event surrounding the Rat Pack West End show, at the Hilton Hotel. The Sunday night Richard Harris show, which will include an appearance by Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by David Arnold, goes into the Strand Theatre, where Wayne Barker has already designed and installed the audio for the Rat Pack production.

"We have always tried to build up our stock in pairs and this forms a significant upgrade to our rental fleet," stated Wayne. "Most of our clients are still in the analogue world and we knew that we would get the support from Marquee that a desk of the PM5000's calibre requires. In fact with Marquee behind us we have always had perfect support and service - we know we don't have to worry about anything apart from getting the gig going."

The PM5000 is the most advanced analogue sound reinforcement console in its class. It is a pure 'analogue' console in the audio sense, and borrows freely from the world of digital technology to provide unprecedented control flexibility and efficiency. "We have always used Yamaha desks - since buying our first PM3500 from Marquee Audio," stated Wayne.

Marquee Audio MD, Spencer Brooks, predicted, "The PM5000 will become the next industry-standard analogue console."
