The Pavilion will take two months to build, with a team of 80 staff on site to oversee construction. The fully insulated and sound-proofed structure will be built with over 45,000m of scaffolding and will weigh over 250 tons. A special secondary membrane to provide optimum heat insulation and soundproofing for the project is being created by Ferrari.
To provide the temporary structure, the Wembley Arena Pavilion project team brought together Arena Event Services Group and Star Events Group. The main front-of-house structure will be 50m wide, 130m long and over 17m in height. Arena Structures MD Grahame Muir commented: "Wembley is one of the most famous venues in the world and I'm sure the TFS semi-permanent venue will be one that people will be proud to be calling Wembley next year."
Sister company Arena Seating will install the 10,000 seats and Arena Events will be selling hospitality packages. Star Events Group will supply a full-scale festival specification VerTech stage. Roger Barrett, group development director of Star Events Group said: "We are well aware of the expectations of incoming production managers with regard to their staging and rigging. The main Wembley Arena Pavilion stage is based on the specification of the Star VerTech stage we've supplied to the T-in-the-Park festival in Scotland for the last few summers."
He continued: "One of the challenges for Wembley was to convince promoters and production managers that a semi-permanent venue would be up to the job. To this end, the experience of Star Events Group was invaluable. Many of the world's major artists have performed on a Star Events Group stage at an outdoor festival or concert over recent years and Star Rigging [the in-house rigging contractor at Wembley Arena] is the first choice of many international promoters and production managers. Their confidence in us was a very important factor in the project going ahead."
