FeONIC Whispering Windows have been developed by Newlands Scientific plc and enables sound from the in-store display, on this occasion state-of-the-art TV and Plasma screens, to be transmitted via the window glass to the street. FeONIC Whispering Windows has already been successfully launched in America, Korea and Japan.
Newlands Scientific is an innovation and design company specializing in the design of products using smart materials. The company has transformed the Peter Jones' window into a giant loudspeaker transmitting high quality sound at ear level. The installation will run until the end of June.
Whispering Windows is a completely new concept in retail marketing, managing director Brian Smith said: "Whispering Windows is a massive opportunity for the retail sector to introduce something new and exciting to its marketing strategy. Shoppers looking into the Peter Jones window will not only be able to see the products but they will enjoy listening to the programme as if they were sitting in their TV lounge at home, such is the quality sound effect of our product.Kevin Scully, Peter Jones Visual Merchandising Manager, said: "The High Street retail sector has been looking for a way to let people hear at the same time as see our products and FeONIC technology is precisely what we've all been waiting for".
