Joe Copans and Jacques Di Giovanni at the official Avid announcement at Killarney Country Club, Johannesburg
South Africa - Professional audio distributor Wild & Marr has acquired the rights to distribute the Avid portfolio of pro-audio products in Southern Africa. The official hand over was completed at an Avid event in Johannesburg last week.

The product portfolio includes the highly popular Pro Tools suite as well as the S6 and S6L integrated digital mixing systems for live performance production and recording.

Joe Copans, MD of Wild & Marr says, "We certainly feel proud to be entrusted with the great brands in the Avid pro-audio stable. We see the two companies as having many synergies, and we're looking forward to investing resources and capacity into growing the Avid footprint in Southern Africa."

Part of those resources is to provide product support for the brand. Ian Holden has been employed as an Avid technical support specialist. Ian has extensive experience with Avid products at distribution and post-production level, while Wild & Marr's broadcast and studio expert, Gustav Teitge, will provide product and sales support.

"There is a lot of synergy between the companies," says Teitge. "When Avid approached us to possibly take over the sole agency for its professional audio products, we saw huge possibilities in creating new markets, in providing dedicated sales and support resources to the products and ensuring that their famous brands are well looked after."

Jacques Di Giovanni, territory account manager for Avid's pro-audio products, agrees with this view of the fit between the companies: "We were looking for a distributor with the necessary customer base, but also the quality of service, support, and technical knowledge to do Avid products justice. We believe Wild & Marr meets these requirements. It's an added advantage for us that the company has exposure to and knowledge of our major market segments, in broadcasting, post-production and studio environments."

Andrew Sorrill, marketing manager at Wild & Marr concludes, "We have already experienced a very favourable response with the news that Wild & Marr are now the distributors for Avid pro-audio. Both companies have a strong legacy in the professional audio industry and we look forward to establishing new business relationships, expanding on existing ones and reinforcing Avid as the premier solution for media and entertainment industry professionals."
