The panel of experts will examine and discuss the initiatives currently in place, review what other areas of industry are already doing and identify specific areas for future attention and development. The debate therefore promises to be both stimulating and informative.
Jane Thornback is sustainability policy advisor at the Construction Products Association and says, "Construction is under particular scrutiny from the Government, environmentalists and the public to introduce measures to improve sustainability. It is commendable to see the Forum taking on this issue directly."
With over 10 years of experience in the field of environmental management within the construction industry - both working at site construction level and for the last seven years at corporate level - Amy Baldry is group environmental manager at Costain.
Comments Baldry, "Every stage of the construction process, from planning and design through to assembly, operation and disposal is under examination, and it is important that all stakeholders engage with us to help achieve industry targets. The Forum's response to this issue demonstrates a like minded approach to change."
Chris Ball is the Forum's representative on the panel and is chairman of the Ladder Association and managing director of Abru, the UK's largest manufacturer of ladders. "The working at height industry is already taking steps to deliver improved sustainable initiatives," says Ball. The discussion will elaborate on these and provide the platform to learn directly from key stakeholders as to where we need to further focus in future."
