Launched at PLASA2010 in September, StageMix provides remote control of M7CL functions via a simple, intuitive graphic interface, from anywhere within wireless range. Worth £429 each, a free 16Gb iPad (WiFi only version) will be given to purchasers of any of the Yamaha M7CL range, one iPad per console, while stocks last.
Specifically designed to allow engineers to adjust monitor mixes from the performer' positions on stage, StageMix directly controls M7CL mix parameters via the iPad, rather than having to rely on verbal directions to a second engineer, or a single engineer keep having to run to and from the console.
Console controls available via the app include input channel faders, on/off, parametric EQs and channel cue; Sends on Faders, mix master faders; mix bus on/off, parametric EQs and cue; Last Cue/Mix Cue Mode and Clear All Cues, with graphic EQ control to follow in a future update.
Mix parameters that can be viewed include input channel names and meters; mix/matrix bus names; mix bus meters and EQ input and output meters.
"Using StageMix means that better mixes will be achieved in much less time, a real advantage in the high-pressure environment of a pre-show setup," says Karl Christmas, deputy general manager of Yamaha Commercial Audio (UK).
"We are sure that M7CL users will find it of tremendous benefit. We are giving away a limited number of free iPads with new M7CL consoles to allow new purchasers to enjoy all of the app's advantages straight away."
