- ProLight+Sound 2011 sees Yamaha launch a new version of its StageMix iPad app
Germany - ProLight+Sound 2011 sees Yamaha Commercial Audio launch a new version of its StageMix iPad app, alongside further new software, the usual wide range of hardware products and a new Facebook page.

A highlight will be the launch of the LS9 version of the StageMix iPad app. Since its launch in September last year, the M7CL version of StageMix has been a major success and producing an LS9-compatible version has been a priority for Yamaha's software development team.

Using the iPad's built-in WiFi (802.11 a/b/g/n) functionality, StageMix directly controls the LS9 via a wireless connection point, which is linked to the mixing console via Cat5 cable. With a straightforward, intuitive graphic interface and the iPad's multi-touch and gesture control, stage sound can be easily mixed, even if the mixing console is at front of house.

The app allows the user to control a wide range of functions, including input channel faders, on/off, parametric EQs and channel cue; Sends on Faders, mix master faders; mix bus on/off, parametric EQs and cue; Last Cue/Mix Cue Mode, Clear All Cues and others. Viewable mix parameters include input channel names and meters; mix/matrix bus names; mix bus meters and EQ input and output meters.

Another software product on demonstration will be Yamaha Console File Converter, a utility which users have been consistently requesting since the M7CL and LS9 consoles were introduced. Officially launched last November, it will be available for free download from the Yamaha web site imminently.

Users can use it to convert file formats between the PM5D and M7CL, and the M7CL and LS9, providing data compatibility between Yamaha digital mixing consoles. It gives audio companies tremendous flexibility in how they deploy Yamaha consoles, enabling them to swiftly react to changes in a production and how they prioritise their resources. Yamaha Console File Converter means that the mix data created on the original console can be simply and quickly transferred to the alternative mixer, saving time and effort.

UNioN - Yamaha's expanded networking solution for seamlessly integrating its digital mixing consoles and stage boxes with a range of third party products - will also be featured on the stand, alongside a full range of Commercial Audio products. They will include, digital mixing consoles, stage boxes, DME series digital mixing engines, power amplifiers, DSR and Installation Series loudspeakers and MY series interface cards.
