Yamaha releases V3 software for M7CL
Japan / Europe - Yamaha's ongoing programme of software updates to its digital audio products continues, with February seeing the launch of the M7CL V3 upgrade. Available as a free download from the Yamaha web site, the V3 operating system adds several features requested by M7CL users.

Direct Sends on Fader access from the mix send encoders in Sends on Fader mode gives the operator more options for a smoother, more efficient workflow and frees up the console's user-defined controls to be used for other functions.

Another key development is that Sends on Fader functionality in the M7CL V3 Editor software now provides remote, console-independent Sends on Fader operation. This means that, for example, an engineer can make stage monitor adjustments from a tablet PC while standing on stage.

Further enhancing the M7CL's setup flexibility and control, additional Recall Safe functionality has been added for Input Patch, Output Patch, Direct Out Patch and Insert Out Patch.

Enhancing the M7CL's selection of onboard effects, the V3 upgrade sees VCM compression, equalisation and tape saturation simulation effects from Yamaha's K's Lab division now included as standard. Comp 276/276s and Comp 260/260s - Equalizer 601 and OpenDeck have been included in response to requests for tools which help to get the basics right, rather than 'out there' effects.

The final enhancement of the V3 upgrade is that stereo input channels 1-4 are now available for talkback, as well as the mono inputs, thus maximizing compatibility between the new M7CL-48ES and other M7CL consoles.

"Yamaha is committed to listening to what users need and supporting our valued customers through continuing product updates," says Karl Christmas, deputy general manager, Yamaha Commercial Audio.

"The M7CL V3 upgrade includes features which have regularly been requested and we are sure they will improve the working lives of many engineers."

As well as being a free upgrade for existing users, all new M7CLs are now shipping with the updated system.
