To enter, young LDs must design and programme a DMX lightshow using M-PC to a music track of their choice and submit a video recording to the Martin Professional Facebook contest page. Contestants can share the video to their own social networks and throughout the contest friends, colleagues, and other Facebook users can vote for their favourite shows.
When the contest ends, the three shows with the most votes enter the final stage of the contest. A panel of judges will then deliberate and pick the final winner. The panel is made up of last year's contest winner, Garou Blancan and Martin's global application engineer, Theis Wermuth, as well as senior product specialist, Michael Feldmann, and product manager for controllers, Paul Pelletier.
"The contest was a major starting point in my career as a professional lighting designer," said Blancon. "Out of the many opportunities that arose in the wake of the contest, there are two highlights: I was given the opportunity to design a tour for a Canadian artist from Quebec; Marie Elaine, and I also got to design an architectural lighting system for the Rialto Theatre facade, which was featured on the cover of a major industry publication."
The 2015 winner will be announced at the Martin Prolight+Sound stand (Hall 9.0, Stand A93) on April 15th at 1 PM. Contestants have until 30 March to submit their work.
