Ireland - A.C. Entertainment Technologies Ireland and Seamus Reck of Lx2000 Stage Lighting Hire recently teamed up to supply and install the lighting for Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral in Cork.
Lighting supply for the Cathedral posed a difficult task from the outset when it was determined that the fixtures were to be installed at 12m high with the only access being a cherry-picker. Additionally, the brief also included making sure that the lighting would enhance live streaming, while not obstructing sightlines from the rear gallery.
When it came to deciding what type of lighting to use for their installation, the team used their expert knowledge, in consultation with the client, to assess the project and looked at two options from Prolights: the EclPanel TWC Jr and the Arc

UK - Stirling Old Bridge, located on the River Forth, is one of the most important crossing points in Scotland.
The present Stirling Bridge was built around the 1500s, yet this historic site has played host to many important moments in history, including the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297 and the Jacobite Rising of 1745. One of the few medieval masonry arch bridges in Scotland, Stirling Old Bridge is one of the most critical river crossings in Scotland and acted as the main crossing point of the River Forth until the early 1800s, dubbed a ‘gateway to the Highlands’.

Australia – Sydney-based Gameday Hire recently invested in a Green-GO digital intercom system for its outside broadcast facility as a cost-effective and robust solution for its range of projects throughout Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
The company is headed up by Australian broadcast industry veteran Andy Liell, who was searching for a communications system that was fully IP-based and offered world-class performance. Gameday Hire’s team travels across the region, often delivering outside broadcast (OB) technology in remote locations that required rock solid communications.
Gameday Hire’s OB trailer was designed as a heavily IP-based facility, with extensive use of NDI and Dante based audio. The system architecture utilises distributed network nodes to enable vision, audio and comms to be connected over single fiber pairs.

South Africa - DWR Distribution hosted their first Absen ACE training workshop presented by Dylan Jones from 2 – 3 March in Johannesburg.
With the Absen brand taking off in South Africa and an increased demand from technicians wanting to up their skills, the comprehensive training programme provided delegates with the understanding to successfully set up and configure LED screens. Delegates who passed the course earned the title of Absen Certified Engineer (ACE).
The two-day programme provided learners with theoretical and practical learning guidance, equipping them to handle complex LED screen installations. Topics included LED screen theory, control system configuration, maintenance, and more.

The gear was ordered by various technical supply companies across the country and consisted of over 2,000 PL2.9 Lite panels and a combination of over 100 PL3.9W Lite and PL3.9W XL Lite panels.
Housed in a protective casing, the curved PL2.9 Lite screens with lock system, suited for large display applications, were purchased by DNG Presentation Staging, The AV Company, Shattered Glass, Ultra Events, Lucidity Technical Production Services, Pure Event Gear and CCPP Group. Germany - The Signal Iduna Park (SIP) operator has expanded the stadium's sound system with more than 128 RCF loudspeaker elements.
With a total capacity of 81,365 spectators, the temple, as the fans affectionately call it, is the largest stadium in Germany and the home ground of football club Borussia Dortmund (BVB). The south stand, in particular, which seats around 25,000 BVB fans provides massive support for the players on the pitch during home matches.
The sound system in the area of the long stands was modernised in 2013 with new RCF line array systems. To further improve the performance and acoustic illumination of the arena, the sound systems in the corners of the SIP and the pitch area have now been renewed.

Portugal - NEXT-proaudio is introducing the LAs118A.v3 (active) and LAs118.v3 (passive). This new version is exactly the same as the previous version with a different internal construction (front-loaded).
The newer version (v3) has been internally re-engineered (from hybrid-horn to front-loaded) to respond more effectively to lower frequencies. The optimised flare of the tunning port reduces air compression and turbulence especially at very high acoustic pressure levels.
