Lithuania - Kaunas State Musical Theatre has been under reconstruction. UAB Sonus exsertus in cooperation with AB Light were responsible for the architectural lighting solution for the building's façade. Sonus exsertus deployed a range of the Italian-based DTS Lighting projects for this project.
According to the concept designer Arvydas Buinauskas the client's goal was to give liveliness to the theatre and make it more playful during the dark hours of the day. Artistic lighting was designed with the aim of transforming the building to the theme of a certain event. One of the challenges for the designer was to first give the very idea of how lighting a building must be done, highlighting the unique elements of the façade in pastel colours, so that it would not be annoying and that it could blend into the urban landscape environment.

WOW’s management team decided they wanted to install a comprehensive, premium audio system to guide people through the various exhibits and deliver the immersive soundscapes that help make the venue different. Genelec loudspeakers were chosen for studio-quality sound, flexibility, and reliability.
Over 400 Genelec loudspeakers are utilised across all the spaces. UK - The Chai Wallahs stage has proved popular with up-and-coming acts as it tours around UK festivals. With a self-contained setup and its own roster of artists, Chai Wallahs has built its reputation around a quality experience for both bands and crew.
The sound system has played a major role in developing this reputation, with sound engineer and system designer, Harry Bishop central to this process for nearly 15 years. “The stage is quite famed for its audio,” says Bishop. “The big feedback from the audience and from the bands has always been the quality of the sound.”
Bishop had been using a solution from one manufacturer since the independent stage first hit the festival scene. However, he had grown increasingly disillusioned with the sound quality he was getting and started to explore different options. During this process he was introduced to TW Audio.

Planning Objections - More than 1,700 people have objected to the expansion of Sky Studios in Elstree. A planning application has been submitted to add 10 sound stages to the yet-to-be-opened site in Hertfordshire. Campaign group Save Hertsmere said the extension would mean "urban sprawl right up to the pretty hamlet of Well End, with all the noise, light and traffic pollution that brings".
Sky Studios Elstree was "committed to working in partnership with the local community, including Save Hertsmere, who are members of our Community Board". The current facility in Elstree has 13 sound stages on a 32-acre site and is due to open at the end of the year. It will be used by Sky, other Comcast-owned firms including NBC Universal, and be open to third parties. The film adaptation of the musical Wicked! is due to be the first feature film made at the studios.

USA - When Martin Audio first released its CDD series, with all the benefits of coaxial differential dispersion technology, Kentucky-based JCA Media immediately jumped onboard. According to their project manager, Alex Peake, that’s when they became a convert to the British manufacturer’s signature sound.
With Houses of Worship as one of their core installation segments, he says: “We have since used CDD of all sizes, including the weatherised versions. With their asymmetric pattern, they sound awesome - smooth and warm.” JCA Media then discovered Martin Audio’s Blackline X8, and with it a wedge monitor complement.
Then finally, along came Torus, Martin Audio’s latest advanced constant curvature solution - and the series arrival caused the company to re-specify a HoW system that they had been asked to design for First United Methodist Church - situated an hou

Finland - Concert venue, TV and recording studio, Musiikkitalo (Helsinki Music Centre), has upgraded its existing Optocore infrastructure with the addition of an AutoRouter intelligent patchbay. This has provided the venue with greater flexibility by freeing up its DiGiCo SD8 at FOH to take on a more portable role within the large complex.
Although the venue originally opened in 2011 as a 1,700-capacity concert space, it undertook a system upgrade in 2017, when an Optocore network was introduced for the first time. “The original design became overloaded and it was too awkward to add anything - and so we added a couple of [Optocore] DD32FRs for signal distribution to the amps and SD racks, and added Optocore to the DiGiCo FOH mixer,” stated head of studio, Jori Tossavainen.
Once again, the Optocore equipment was supplied by distributor, Intersonic. “We have suppl

USA - Brian Ruggles has been mixing Billy Joel’s live shows ever since the singer-songwriter came on the scene in 1971 with his Cold Spring Harbor LP. Now, more than half a century later, he continues to collaborate with the artist, including mixing Joel’s multi-year, record-breaking, one-show-a-month residency at Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden.
The last eight years of that partnership have found Ruggles mixing the Piano Man’s shows on a DiGiCo SD5 console. The SD5 meets Ruggles’ needs for a console that can offer him the kind of warm sound that he grew up with using analogue desks throughout most of Joel’s lengthy career and on tours with artists like Stevie Nicks, Heart, and John Mellencamp. Meanwhile, Josh Weibel, Joel’s monitor engineer, finds that his DiGiCo SD10 console gives him the flexibility he needs to manage the changing lineup of the resi
