USITT takes place at Cincinnati's Duke Energy Convention Centre from 18-21 March, with Alcons exhibiting at Booth 1104. Products on show will include the RR12 modular point-source array and QR24 pro-ribbon line-source column, as well as a selection from the company's pro-ribbon system portfolio.
Based on Alcons pro-ribbon cylindrical projection technology, RR12 features the company's new proprietary RBN602rsr, six-inch pro-ribbon driver, coupled to an asymmetric Morph-Max waveguide and a custom-designed 12" woofer with four-inch voice coil. Designed as 'building blocks' to create tightly packed arrays for controlled sound coverage, RR12 can be used as horizontal or vertical point-source array.
The compact QR24 pro-ribbon line-source column is a modular, two-way column-array loudspeaker designed for acoustically-challenging rooms and delivers full-range high SPL levels, HiFi sound quality and unparalleled speech intelligibility, without the necessity for DSP-based beam steering.
Also on show will be the BC332, the self-contained 18" + 15" cardioid subwoofer. The VR8 two-way ultra-compact multi-purpose monitor, in combination with the BF151 subwoofer, are used to provide low-level pro-ribbon sound impressions on the stand.
In addition, Alcons systems will be in use throughout the show. This includes participation in the Live Sound Compact Loudspeaker Demo; For the first time, the well-known loudspeaker comparison event takes place at the USITT, with eight participating loudspeaker brands.
The Alcons demonstrations of the LR7 micro pro-ribbon line-array take place at 3.45pm on 18 March and 10.15am on 19 March.
Alcons will also be providing the audio system for the Opening Night Cocktail Party and the New Products Showcase and Stage Expo Preview.
"As an event focused specifically on the live theatre market, we are pleased to be able to increase our involvement at USITT," says Alcons Audio US sales manager David Rahn. "Historically it has provided solid leads and actual sales/installations for Alcons in the US. It is also an event where we are able to expose our advanced technologies to the students that will make up many of the theater operators of the future."
