Artistic Licence Superheroes at PLASA Focus
- Details
Artistic Licence has upgraded its popular DIN rail splitters, Rail-Split RDM II and Rail-Split extreme, to superhero status, by endowing them with special powers to withstand mains electrocution.
Both products are now fitted with electrical protection on the input, loop and output connections. This enables them to survive electrocution by all international mains voltages, including UK 3-phase (that is, up to 415 VAC continuous connection). The connections are designed to be self-healing, so the product lives on to fight another day.
Additionally, Rail-Split extreme now features surge protection. This feature is aimed at protecting the product and connected equipment against voltage surges of the type generated by lightning. The protection is sacrificial which means that after a certain number of protection events, the protection circuitry will be destroyed.
The next generation of Artistic Licence ethernet-to-DMX gateways is based on a more powerful chip technology, and provides full support for the award-winning Art-Net 4 protocol. Leading the way is artLynx quad, a DIN rail mounted product that converts Art-Net (all releases) or sACN to 4 DMX universes. RDM is additionally supported when used with Art-Net. artLynx quad supercedes the previous Art-Lynx O/P product.
At the heart of the product, an order of magnitude increase in processing power allows artLynx quad to operate effortlessly on networks with congested broadcast data. All outputs are protected from accidental electrocution by any international mains voltage (including UK 3-phase, 415 VAC continuous connection). The electrical protection is 'self-healing', so the product can continue to be used.
Other handy new features include a readily accessible factory reset switch, and a 'squawk' function that allows the physical location of the product to be easily matched to its listing on the network display. An improved, faster internal web server facilitates easy configuration, and the product's compatibility with Artistic's free DMX-Workshop software allows users to take advantage of the full suite of Art-Net 4 features.
In a major new development, Artistic Licence is has incorporated support for RDM Integrity in its latest ethernet gateways, starting with artLynx quad. RDM Integrity is a software product from Benjamin Electric Co. designed for testing RDM compliance. The product is targeted at manufacturers and developers wishing to ensure that their products are compliant before being placed on the market. It provides a simple pass, advisory, warning or fail assessment, along with decoded data that allow quick identification of any problems.
Customers who have purchased RDM Integrity can use artLynx quad to unlock its powerful RDM and Art-Net testing capabilities.
Light Bytes - Inside Art-Net and sACN, the book written by Wayne Howell - CEO of Artistic Licence and inventor of Art-Net, will be on sale at the Artistic Licence stand. Wayne Howell will be there to answer questions.
