Howard Jenkins from Blitz commented: "The format of the conference consisted of both plenary sessions and a series of morning and afternoon workshops, complete with PowerPoint presentations. We used ViewScape technology with a twin screen system to maximize stage space, allowing members of the audience to observe the presentations with ease. We also installed two Barco SLM R8 projectors, and to ensure continuity and minimize downtime, two further R8 projectors were used as backup."
ViewScape is a multi-input, multi-display control device which allows the user to show multiple windowed inputs on a set-up of combined displays. Able to control both projection and plasma displays directly, and daylight displays indirectly, the ViewScape offers a wide range of effects such as alpha blending, chroma keying, z-order control and edge-blending, say Barco.
Trevor Crysell, production manager at Olive 360° said: "BECTA's annual conference is one of its most important events as it helps to set the agenda in policy, practice and research in ICT (information and communications technology) in schools. Therefore it is imperative that we provide equipment that is both effective and reliable. This was the first time that either BECTA or the Shaw Theatre had used ViewScape technology. The equipment provided by Blitz enabled us to blend the PowerPoint presentations and the camera relay seamlessly to form one large display.
"Having worked with Blitz for over five years, we knew that it was in a position to offer us a cost-effective solution using the best in equipment and with the right amount of technical expertise to help make the event a success. The conference was hailed as a success by both BECTA and the conference's attendees."
