UK - Since demerging from the Evenser Group in February 2004, the Blitz Charter Group has gone from strength to strength, the company reports. The group, which has just announced a first period operating profit of £1.8 million in the 10 months to 31 December 2004, has made significant investments in new equipment, built on its key strengths and continued to attract the best people in the industry, it says.

Continuing its recruitment drive, the Group has confirmed that Ed Everest, founder and current managing director of Outside Broadcast specialists, O21, has been appointed as the new managing director of Charter Broadcast beginning in October 2005. Everest comments: "I'm delighted to be able to join the Blitz Charter Group; I have worked with Charter many times through the years, and their skill and enthusiasm for what they do has always been impressive. I have been involved in O21 from the start, and having built it into a respected and successful business, I am confident that I am leaving it in good hands as I move on to explore other areas of the industry. I am particularly looking forward to getting involved in the international side of Charter's business and helping to bring greater focus on more client led projects."

Charter has experienced phenomenal 29% growth in the six months up until 30 June 2005, winning work from both new and existing clients. One of the most topical events of the year, Live8, saw the company show-casing the UK's first ever true HD radio camera package, designed by industry experts in-house at Charter. The team has also been involved in Wimbledon, the French Open Tennis Championships, V8 Supercars, MotoGP and a number of productions for ITV and Channel 5.

The Group has made a number of investments in equipment in order to ensure it always has the best to offer its clients. Recent audio purchases include two Yamaha PM1D sound desks, which have been used on Comic Relief does Fame Academy, The Farm and The Games.

Michael Breen, CEO of The Blitz Charter Group, comments: "We're delighted to welcome Ed Everest to Charter. We are known throughout the world for the expertise of our staff, and with Ed on board I look forward to seeing Charter build on its key strengths both in the UK and internationally."
