Blitz worked with urban productions, a leading events management company, to supply the Awards ceremony with both the equipment and personnel to ensure a flawless service. Blitz first worked with urban productions for the 2004 Whitbread Young Achiever Awards. Monique Smith, project manager at urban productions, commented: "The Whitbread Young Achiever Awards was held at a unique venue in Central London and Blitz's expertise, coupled with their proactive approach and attention to detail helped us tremendously. When organising an Awards ceremony at one of East End's most extraordinary and exciting venues, Blitz was well placed to provide us with both the equipment and proficiency to help bring Spitalfields Market alive on the night."
Steve Parker, Blitz's project manager says: "Spitalfields Market is a truly remarkable location and a fantastic setting for such an occasion. Having worked on similar venues we were able to find solutions to the challenges the site posed quickly. As the stage was in the round we hung three screens in a triangular arrangement above the stage and dead-hung the Barco R8 projectors from appropriate points on the ceiling joists."
Steve Parker, based at Blitz Manchester coordinated the efforts between Manchester and Elstree to make sure that one of the most important dates in the entertainment calendar exceeded everyone's expectations. The equipment supplied from Elstree included hand held Sennheiser radio mics including one for the host Dermot O'Leary as well as for the winners, the latest d&b Q series speakers, four Sony Triax Cameras and PPU to transmit pictures to the auditorium screens and a separate relay for the press area.
Blitz also used a 360 Systems instant replay unit for audio stings to be played when announcing the winners and for the walk-up, which allowed for easy last minute changes and additions. The AV rental specialists also supplied, what has become many DJ's favourite sound system of d&b F2s and B2s for the separate after show party.
