UK - Technical staging specialist Blitz, part of the Blitz Charter Group, was recently commissioned by fashion label Lacoste to provide AV design, equipment and support at the showcase event for the launch of its Spring 2007 shoe collection, which took place at the Science Museum in London.

Blitz, which has a long-standing relationship with the Science Museum and is a preferred supplier, designed and implemented a total AV solution on behalf of Lacoste. Using a combination of Encore - a multi-layered video display system, and Watchout - a multi-display production and presentation system, alongside its full graphics suite, Blitz provided "a presentation with maximum impact for the whole audience", the company says.

Carol Gibbs, director of Blitz Graphics, explains: "Lacoste had given us a beautiful product to work with and it was therefore imperative that we translated their designers' passion in the new collection into a powerful visual presentation of the highest standard. We wanted to tell a story to the audience and build the excitement through the day by changing moods and stimulating the right feel for each footwear collection. Because of the nature of the set up at the Science Museum, with the IMAX screen, and restrictions on the use of projection booths already in place, we had to think creatively about the technologies that we could use which were appropriate for this event, and tailor them specifically."

Blitz combined the use of the Encore and Watchout systems with two high definition projectors which hadn't been used by the company before to spread images across the immense 26m-wide IMAX screen and supply superb images throughout the event. Marc Travis, international marketing manager at Lacoste comments: "It was the first time we had used an external venue for one of our collection launches so it was imperative that our presentations were not only impressive, but true to our brand values and not overshadowed by the surroundings. We worked closely with the team at Blit,z who spent time understanding the brand and the collection before transferring our ideas onto the screens. The result was a fantastic mixture of presentations, films and visuals which ensured the collection was launched to acclaim from all our international attendees."
