Over this period of time, Bosch has made two major acquisitions. The first in 2001 was Detection Systems Inc headquartered in Fairport, New York, a global supplier of intruder alarms with production sites and sales distribution channels in every major economic region of the world.
The second acquisition at the end of 2002 was Philips CSI, formerly the CCTV and Communications Systems division of the Philips Group in Eindhoven. With this acquisition, Bosch also gained additional production locations and established sales channels which Philips had developed over many years. The market for video surveillance is considered to have the greatest growth potential in the security systems industry.
Bosch Security Systems' main focus is in CCTV and video surveillance systems (especially for banks, supermarkets, railway stations, airports and industrial applications), communications systems for public address, evacuation and conferences, and in fire and intruder alarm systems for building protection. The company also provides fully integrated systems that combine security, fire, PA, evacuation and communications facilities as part of complete building management systems.
