"I am really looking forward to working at Black Light on a permanent basis," says Calder, who has worked with the company in a freelance capacity in the past. "It's a really friendly and energetic company that is growing strongly and I look forward to boosting the capacity of my department and helping our clients put on really spectacular shows, conferences and other productions."
In the past, Calder has worked as head of lighting at Edinburgh's Gilded Balloon and as Technical Manager at the Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline, he has also worked for other technical support companies and has freelanced for a wide range of other organizations.
Calder, who started with Black Light in May, is settling into his new role quickly. He is currently looking at new opportunities for the Events Department and is also driving the company's investment in new hire stock, to ensure that the Events Team can capitalize on any new challenges that present themselves.
Calder's appointment marks another step in Black Light's mission to 'provide the best service possible to its customers'. "I am really excited about Calder's appointment as it will allow us to move forward strongly," says Phil Haldane, Black Light's head of company development. "The whole ethos of Black Light is to be on the same wavelength as our customers and Calder's appointment shows that we are true to our word - he knows theatre and events inside out and speaks the language that our customers understand."
