The Awards for Innovation ceremony is an annual event celebrating the most innovative new lighting, sound, and video technology from across the industry. This year, an independent panel of expert judges viewed more than 45 products which were presented from the floor of the PLASA Show 2013 exhibition in London's ExCel Centre. With the awards announcement, the judges said that Chromlech's Tap Technology "represents an impressive advancement in state-of-the-art entertainment lighting," adding that they were "very excited about the potential of this concept".
The new Elidy strip - an LED striplight composed of either 5 or 15 LEDs - had its debut at the PLASA Show 2013. The new striplight is only the latest innovation from Chromlech as the company's Elidy panel was launched in 2012 and won the coveted Etoile du SIEL just this year. The Elidy panel is the world's first LED matrix fixture capable of projecting volumetric graphics. Also at the PLASA Show 2013, Chromlech introduced Elidy version 2.0 - a software upgrade with new features including Animation Maker.
The popular Elidy has been seen in many uses since its launch including on tour with Pink, Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age, Bon Jovi, One Direction, Rammstein, Depeche Mode and Bruno Mars, and on television shows including The X Factor, The Voice, and Yves Saint Laurent Fashion Show.
Most recently Elidy has hit the headlines with its spectacular effects on the Mumford and Sons tour where lighting designer Ed Warren's imaginative use of the panels has really awakened the industry to the full potential of this exciting new fixture.
