The White Light Open Day, a free event aimed at those working in small theatres, performance venues, schools, and colleges, attracted 200 visitors in 2012 with attendees coming from across London and elsewhere in the UK. All were looking to improve their lighting knowledge, demo the latest kit, or meet with White Light staff.
This year's event aims to provide an even greater variety of content and activities allowing visitors to take part in lighting master classes and technical training sessions, as well as getting a hands-on look at White Light's extensive range of lighting, AV, and effects equipment available for sale and hire.
The White Light Open Day will also host a selection of manufacturers showing off their latest lighting products, with White Light staff on hand to hear feedback, offer advice, and lead tours of White Light's warehouse and pre-rigging facilities. There will be a chance to grab a bargain in a sale of ex-demo and second-hand lighting equipment.
Craig Bennett, hire business development manager for White Light, sees the White Light Open Day as an excellent chance to communicate directly with customers. "Speaking with the LDs, technicians, PMs, and venue managers is a great way to really understand the evolving needs of the many groups and individuals that use our equipment and services everyday. It's also a great opportunity for visitors to see what we do here, and get practical information about both technical and creative sides of live performance."
Visitors will be able to enjoy a networking lunch where they can meet with other theatre and lighting enthusiasts. The White Light Open Day will take place from 10:00 to 16:00 on Sunday, 27 October at White Light in Wimbledon. Guests can register online at: whitelightopenday.eventbrite.co.uk.
