CT provided an 87m² Lighthouse R7 screen in Trafalgar Square and a 39m² Lighthouse R7 screen in St James' Park South, enabling the tens of thousands of visitors and residents of the capital to view the long weekend's festivities in all its regal glory.
CT also controlled the content across a total of 13 screens in central London, combining the main broadcast feed, locally generated live images and an advert roll with both ticker and emergency messaging options. Signals were distributed over a fibre network ensuring highest image quality and allowing critical video delays to be set for each screen on the Mall enabling the video images to remain in synch with the relatively slow moving audio travelling the length of the Mall for the Monday night concert.
At the furthest point a delay of around three seconds was required to bring the images back in line with the concert sound. In addition, full audio visual support was provided, including wireless cameras and production facilities to the Mayor of London's Trafalgar Square event held on Tuesday, allowing the crowds to see full coverage of the day's events including Service of Thanksgiving, lunch at Westminster Hall and of course the Royal carriage procession followed by the Queen's balcony appearance and RAF flypast.
Stuart Young, CT's project manager - a veteran of the Golden Jubilee - was proud again to be part of such a prestigious occasion: "CT has great experience with these types of special and significant events, where it is especially important to maintain quality and reliability. Whilst this time the majority of the screens were mobiles and provided by others, CT's experience and engineering expertise was essential to ensure the images were optimised both in terms of signal quality and delay, this is a significant challenge when screens are of different sizes, generations and have limited engineering support. It was a huge event, one that CT and I are proud to have been a part of."
