The 4820 is otherwise unchanged - it has the same four inputs and eight outputs on analogue XLR and AES/EBU digital connectors, the same 96kHz processing engine, and the same extensive range of EQ, delay, dbx compression and limiting algorithms, and band-pass and loudspeaker crossover filters. Like the 4800, it contains all the processing an engineer in a live sound installation might need - but at three-quarters of the price. The 4820 can be controlled remotely using Harman's Ethernet-based HiQNet digital control protocol, allowing it to communicate with other HiQNet-enabled products, including compatible Crown power amps, JBL loudspeakers, AKG wireless mic systems and Soundcraft and Studer mixing desks. The 4820 also uses Ethernet to communicate with the PC-based System Architect control software, which gives full access to its range of processing functions.
The DriveRack 4800 is now shipping and the 4820 will be shipping shortly.
