UK - Marantz Professional has announced the release of its CC4001P Studioline 5-Carousel CD Changer. This is an upgraded replacement for the CC4300, with many new features. Principal among these is that the CD changer will play up to five CD-R/RW and MP3 discs, providing a jukebox of nearly 5,000 tracks. Up to 999 tracks can be contained on a single disc.

The multi-featured machine also incorporates dual digital (coaxial and optical) outputs as well as volume-adjustable headphone output and a bi-directional RS-232C terminal.

Although the previous model (CC4300P) also included an RS-232C terminal, the specifications were unidirectional - only for executing commands. The CC4001P improves on this by supporting bi-directional communication, in which the operating status is sent in reply to commands issued from the controller. This enables customers to prepare a more user-friendly system by, for example, prohibiting unavailable operations from a touch panel controller in advance.

Another addition is the IR Flasher input terminal. This is useful when the CC4001P is stored in an enclosed rack or in other situations preventing reception of IR signals by the sensor. By means of this interface, users can set up a separate IR sensor outside the rack, or link a controller directly to the unit via a cord for reliable control of the CC4001P.

Finally, IR remote control codes are provided so that as many as five CC4001P units can be independently controlled in the same place.

Marantz Professional has also announced the release of the ST6001P FM/MW/LW stereo tuner. The ST6001P continues the Marantz tradition of tuner performance with a digitally-synthesised 'front end', optimised for both high sensitivity and high selectivity.

The audio circuitry follows this same high-quality pattern with custom-selected parts in a meticulous layout to maximise signal quality while minimising interference.

The tuner's high-sensitivity front-end and quartz-locked digital tuning ensure low noise signal processing and drift-free reception of stereo FM, MW and LW. Two antenna inputs (A & B) allow terrestrial and cable radio to be connected in parallel. An attenuator is also provided for when required.

Wide/narrow switching options make it possible to choose between sensitivity and selectivity when tuning, in order to obtain the best sound quality, while 60 presets apply to all wavebands, providing instant recall of preferred stations (a D-Bus facilitates total remote control).

The components are specially made for Marantz in co-operation with the company's engineers. On the densely used FM frequency band (especially on the cable radio network), noise and whistle adjustment can be very difficult. With the ST6001P's Bandwidth Selector the user can narrow the filtered bandwidth, resulting in accurate tuning to the preferred radio station. The wide bandwidth selection offers the best sound quality.

Radio station information is displayed on the dot matrix display of the tuner, The Radio Data System (RDS) provides general data, such as the name of the radio station, programming information and time.
