Byrne introduced Entertainment Workshops - a unique alternative education facility that provides an opportunity for young people to access hidden skills through hands on learning - while showcasing some of its students who benefit greatly from the practical, work-based experience that EW provides, paving a pathway to a career in the entertainment technology industry.
Student Louie Coleman, summed up what the facility meant for him, "EW is a great experience and if you get the chance I'd definitely say grab it with both hands because it's a once in a lifetime opportunity and they have given me more than I can ever pay back."
Spurred into action by the seminars, exhibiting companies have pledged support to help fund and maintain the work of the charity. Funding talks are ongoing across a number of areas such as additional educational streams supported by direct funding and the long term provision of industry standard lighting, video and audio equipment.
Byrne, added, "EW would like to thank The Theatres Trust and its TheatreStage for the opportunity given to speak directly to those exhibiting and attending the PLASA show. Opportunities have arisen as a direct result and we are talking to a number of companies who are now aware of the work we do and how it will benefit them in the coming years."
