Houben has gained international acclaim for her work on theatres, museums and libraries to neighbourhoods, housing and parks, with each design founded on the observation of people, location, culture and climate. She holds Honorary Fellowships of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) and was granted lifelong membership of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin.

The Netherlands - International creative design practice Painting with Light was commissioned by Panasonic to produce a high-impact multimedia live show for their booth at this year’s ISE expo at Amsterdam RAI.
In 2017, Painting with Light’s creative director Luc Peumans developed a show that featured simultaneous tracking and projecting onto multiple objects, resulting in a dynamic live performance piece that combined a number of cutting-edge technologies, illustrating their capabilities, together with the flexibility of Panasonic’s latest projectors.
This year, Luc received a brief from Panasonic’s European product marketing manager for projectors and visual solutions, Thomas Vertommen, who wanted to take it one step further and create a more graphical show that was even more technically ambitious.

Italy - The Audio Engineering Society has announced the membership of the organising committee for the 144th International AES Convention and Exposition, taking place in Milan, Italy, 23-26 May at the NH Hotel Milano Congress Centre.

The Netherlands - The largest and busiest Integrated Systems Europe in its 15-year history drew record numbers of exhibitors and attendees from around the world for four days of business, education and networking at the RAI Amsterdam between 6-9 February.
The number of exhibitors totalled 1,296, of which 294 were exhibiting at ISE for the first time. Combined, they filled 53,000sq.m of exhibition floor space. Floor space already confirmed for ISE 2019 currently stands at 103% of the total booked for ISE 2018.
The number of registered visitors by the end of the show had reached 80,923, an increase of 10.3% on the 2017 edition. Over 30% of the total attendees were visiting ISE for the first time.

USA - Visitors who entered the Roland exhibit at NAMM during a performance by one of the company’s many star endorsers experienced a sense of attending a concert. When they returned a short time later, they felt an equally immersive, but quite different, sensation of walking through a high-tech showroom. Contributing to the creation of this flexible exhibit space was a versatile lighting design by Justin Preston that featured a collection of over 90 Chauvet Professional fixtures, including 32 Maverick MK2 Wash units.

UK - PLASA Focus Glasgow kicked off the 2018 show season last week, providing a regional platform for professionals in the industry to connect and discover the latest technology in the market.
The show welcomed nearly 800 attendees at the Scottish Event Campus on 17-18 January and exhibitors reported busy stands, with high quality of visitors including key decision makers in attendance.
Over 85 brands showcased the latest products in lighting, audio, AV, rigging and staging, as well as a busy programme of seminars, workshops and product demonstrations.
For exhibitors, the Focus-style show provided a platform to build connections in a new market and meet customers who often don’t travel to the larger international shows.

Europe - Cross 3 is a new high-performance cable protection product launched by Penn Elcom. Described as tough, durable and fire-retardant, the product is suitable for festivals, concerts, shows, events or exhibitions.
Cross 3, the first product in this new series, was revealed to the public earlier this week at the CUE 2018 expo in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. It’s a three channel ‘crossover’ product manufactured from Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU), chosen for its strength, high resistance to abrasion, flexibility and recyclability.
All elements of the Cross 3 product - top and base - are fire retardant and compliant to DIN EN 13501-1.
