UK - LSC Lighting Systems returns to PLASA for its 25th year and will be found on stand H70, with no less than three new products making their UK debut including the following:

The new GenVI Advanced Dimming System allows any of its channels to be configured as an 8 bit or 16 bit dimmer or alternatively as a direct power relay channel. This TruPower technology, introduced to the market by LSC over 5 years ago, enables the user to set some channels on the GenVI to dim traditional lamps and others to direct power for moving lights, LED fixtures, strobes, fans, video screens and even audio power amplifiers.

Another first for the company is the new LDT Dimmer - a new technology dimmer that allows control of dimmable retrofit style LED fixtures. With the global move to LED technology, many users simply replace existing fixtures with their LED equivalent only to find that they can't

UK - Doughty Engineering is showcasing its award winning Drop Arms, T-Bars and H-Frames at PLASA London 2014, the first time the finished products will have been seen at an exhibition.

Designed to provide a safe, flexible rigging method for suspending luminaires from a truss or fixed tubes or barrels, Doughty's Modular Drop Arms and H-Frames won the 2014 ABTT Award for Engineering Product of the Year when the prototypes were previewed at the show in June this year.

"We wanted to show the industry what we had been working on," said Mark Chorley, design engineer at Doughty. "What we didn't expect was the amazing reception the product would receive. We've been working ever since to prepare the range for sale and I'm pleased to say that we are now ready to take orders."

UK - For the first time anywhere, SGM will showcase the new P-2, Q-2 and Q-2W LED fixtures at this year's PLASA Show. These are respectively based on the groundbreaking technology behind the P-5 wash light and the multifunction Q-7/Q7W (wash, blind, strobe) which have all helped to raised industry standards.

Providing an even smaller physical footprint, these compact units will provide easy and quick set-up, while at the same time maintaining the IP65 rating which is one of the characteristics of the SGM portfolio.

Taking it a step further, the 18 lenses in the P-2 are divided into three individually controllable segments with RGBW colours. Containing 18 high power 10W RGBW LEDs, P-2 has a light output of 11,500 lumens - 1,885 lumens per kilo - and an efficacy of 58 lm/W, offering a variation of beam angles, with 15°, 21° and 43° interchangeable lenses.

UK - Artistic Licence will launch nanoScope, its much anticipated pocket-sized tester for DMX512 and RDM at PLASA London 2014. Following a tantalising preview at last year's show, the market-ready version of nanoScope will be available for viewing and purchase at Stand L50.

Lightweight and battery powered with a translucent plastic casing, nanoScope features a built-in 5-pin XLR connector that enables it to be attached directly to the DMX512 cable. The device lights up in different colours to indicate its findings - this provides rapid, intuitive feedback that is hands-free and visible at a distance (handy for awkward positions such as plenum spaces or hanging off a truss).

Two modes of operation exist, selected by a recessed slide switch that also controls power on/off.

In 'Pixel Mode', nanoScope displays the first three DMX512 channels as an RGB mix, to provide confidence

A pixel-mapping panel with 25 Quad-Colour RGBW LEDs, the Next NXT-1 combines fast pan/tilt movement with a tight 6° beam angle to create brilliant in-motion displays that will mesmerise audiences at concerts, festivals and live productions of all types. The Next NXT-1's ultra-bright output allows its sharp pixel-mapped images to cut through haze and washes on stage and deliver maximum punch at long throws, when used as an LED wash.

"It was at this point, a gap in the market was acknowledged - the industry needed an online, intuitive and modern rental management system," said Branson. "A system that wouldn't hold this industry back, removing accessibility issues that are present with Windows based systems, allowing every user to action and manage all rental processes from any device and location."<

UK - Visitors to PLASA London 2014 are invited to twice daily light shows on the Philips Entertainment stand L80, where they will be able to see Philips Selecon's latest innovation in LED technology, the RAMA LED Fresnel, in action.

Designed for 230v operation, the RAMA LED Fresnel combines the superior control and light quality of a Philips Selecon Fresnel but with added LED advantages. It provides an adjustable cone of light, has a soft edge and is easily blended with adjacent beams to provide even illumination.

A key benefit of the exciting new luminaire is that it is no longer necessary to change lamps and as a 3000K LED source, designers can use colour filters, in a similar way to a tungsten unit. It is also the ideal tool for general stage lighting as it has a smooth dimming curve and offers significant reductions in power consumption over traditional 1/1.2kW Tungsten Ha

UK - Faster rigging of stage and sets combined with improved safety are just two of the benefits offered by Doughty Engineering's Modular Rigging System, shown at PLASA for the first time.

A strong, safe alternative to 'home made' drop arms, which until now have been the only option for riggers, the system uses tried and tested connectors to give a SWL of 100kg and enables the safe and speedy rigging of luminaires from truss or fixed tubes or barrels. It also provides for a range of configurations to open up the possibility for highly innovative lighting design.

The Modular Rigging System uses 48mm diameter aluminium barrels in conjunction with a truss style conical coupling and is designed as two parts - Modular Drop Arms, which are single arms designed to be suspended with a coupler, and H-Frames, which can be suspended or floor-standing with tank traps.

UK - Venues with limited budgets that wanted to update their lighting systems with LEDs have until now often had only one option: flimsy, noisy and undependable fixtures with incredibly limited, fake-looking colour that drifted as soon as they were turned on. Now ETC has a new solution: the ColorSource PAR, an LED luminaire developed by colour experts and backed by ETC's industry leading service department. Schools, houses of worship, small theatres and other venues with tight budgets now have a way to affordably upgrade to LEDs, without losing out on beautiful colour.

Since ETC began developing LED luminaires, the company has spent a lot of time experimenting with colour, inventing LED products whose colour capabilities go well beyond what is available on the market today. ETC has applied this expertise to the ColorSource PAR, which uses a proportionate blend of red, green, blu

Speaking at the ELC-Lighting stand, Silvio Cibien said, "Buddy has all the functions required to enable a user to get DMX out of their laptop at an entry level price. We feel that those taking their first tentative steps in the industry need to be able to experiment without the fear of doing something wrong, or losing all their work.

UK - ETC has handed over a cheque for almost £17,500 to the Behind the Scenes UK charity at PLASA London 2014.

The donations come from people who bought the European version of the ETC iRFR or aRFR remote control app for their phone or tablet over the past year, all of whom had the choice of whether their money went to the US charity, or its UK branch, which until recently was called Light Relief.

Handing over a cheque to John Simpson, trustee of Behind the Scenes UK, ETC's CEO Fred Foster said, "Lighting can be easy to control using the ETC iRFR for iOS and aRFR for Android, but sometimes life can be more difficult. That's why we're pleased to continue to support the Behind the Scenes charity, which provides much needed support to our colleagues and their families when times are hard."
