Norway - Oslo-based PA company Frontlite has made a substantial investment in Nexo's Geo T tangent-array loudspeaker systems, ordering one of the largest rental inventories of the year to date. Used in full, the new 24-a-side Geo T rig will be capable of handling the very largest events in Norway.

Frontlite placed its order for Geo T and a number of Camco amplifiers following a visit to the Monsters of Rock festival in the UK. Frontlite's head of audio Stuart Kerrison had wanted to hear the system at a large event, and, with 85 cabinets of Geo T supplied by SSE Audio Group for artists such as Deep Purple and Alice Cooper, the Milton Keynes show was the ideal audition. On hand to offer advice were Jon Petter Westerlund of PSS and Asle Skårslette of FotoPhono, François Deffarges of Nexo and Mick Anderson of Camco.

"We already had Nexo Alpha cabinets," explains Kerrison, "and we have been really happy with them. When we looked at various line arrays, we never heard a bad word about Nexo's Geo T system. Size-wise, the system really suits us. We were looking for a high-output system but we didn't want huge heavy boxes; a lot of venues we work in can't handle the dimensions of such systems. Until I heard Geo T in Milton Keynes, I wasn't convinced I was going to find what I wanted. Now that I've used the system, I can say it has surpassed my highest hopes!"

One of the features of the PA market in Norway is the huge variation in size of venues. "We needed a really versatile system. We go into a lot of smaller venues, and our audiences can range from 50 people to 20,000 people. We wanted to be able to divide the inventory up into three smaller systems, or to split it in half giving us two systems each capable of handling a festival with 5,000 people, or going on a tour."

Frontlite has achieved this by stocking up on Camco amplifiers, buying an extra ten Vortex 6 amps, two more top amp racks than the whole Geo T system requires. "Doing this gives us the flexibility of dividing the systems, or we have more than enough amps for a single system which is extremely powerful."

In total, Frontlite's order is for 48 T4805 cabinets, six T2815 downfill cabinets, and 24 CD18 subbass units. The system uses 12 NX242 processors, and, from Camco, the amplifier stock comprises 30 Vortex 6 and 14 Vortex 200V, primarily to drive the subbass.

To match Frontlite's commitment to Geo T, PSS has sold additional T4805s, CD18 subs and Camco Vortex 6 amplifiers to bump up the inventory of the rental division of FotoPhono, its parent company, and provide extra sub-hire potential for Frontlite, should it be needed. "It means more boxes in Norway," says Kerrison,"and that's a good thing. It also underlines the great cooperation we have established with PSS and FotoPhono."
