USA - The Entertainment Services and Technology Association has announced the election results for the 2010 PERA Council. The PERA Council within ESTA serves the needs of the equipment rental market for motion picture, television and commercial production.

The Council continues the work of PERA for camera, accessories, grip and lighting rental companies and manufacturers. Members of the Council are elected by the PERA Council Affiliates and are responsible for the development and implementation of programs and services for members in these market segments.

NOEA is the trade body for organisers and suppliers in the UK outdoor event industry bringing together local authorities, organisers, promoters, venues and suppliers to share problems, enhance professionalism and create business opportunities.

UK - The Harrow Youth Achievement Awards took place this November with an awards ceremony recognising the outstanding achievements of young people in the London Borough of Harrow. Mobile Promotions provided its technology trailer transformed into a broadcast and recording studio, giving students and young people their first taste of fame as they were interviewed by TV presenter and Kids Task Force ambassador, Sharon Doughty.

Mobile Promotions utilised its expandable trailer to create the recording studio. The trailer is 13.6m long and 2.5m wide when in transit but expands once on site to give approximately 80sq.m. Abbamania continues - Abba fans will get the chance to immerse themselves in everything about the band when an interactive exhibition premieres in London. Germany - This month sees the launch of the German distribution partnership between LMP and Visual Productions software lighting control manufacturer.

Initially focusing on the Cuelux software lighting controller, LMP Product Manager Olli Winkler says, "We are glad to have Cuelux in our product portfolio. Cuelux is a well fitting complement in the field of professional lighting control systems."

USA - Total Structures reports great interest at the recent LDI in its RSC Lightlock which was making its US debut.

The RSC Lightlock now gives designers the ability to dampen the natural tendency for moving lights to twist in reaction to the fixture's pan movement, allowing the light to hit the focus point without swinging back and forth. Royal News - The Queen has been entertained by a host of stars at the first Royal Variety Performance to be held in Blackpool since 1955. The town's illuminations had lit the way as the royal party made its way to the Opera House in the Winter Gardens. The charity event's host, comedian Peter Kay, welcomed the Queen to "the entertainment capital of the world". The show's performers included Lady Gaga, Bette Midler, Whoopi Goldberg and Britain's Got Talent winners Diversity.

Blackpool's Opera House, which seats 2,900 people, was used to host the show in the 1950s era of acts such as Morecambe and Wise, Arthur Askey and George Formby. UK / Germany - The Music Group - owner of the Behringer brand as well as a number of other associated companies - has signed a deal to acquire the Midas and Klark Teknik brands from Bosch Communications Systems. The Music Group is managed by Uli Behringer and Michael Deeb.

The sale of Midas and Klark Teknik is part of an asset deal that was signed yesterday, on 8 December 2009, and is subject to regulatory approval. The terms have not been disclosed.

The Music Group plans to retain all 106 employees currently working at Midas and Klark Teknik. These brands will continue to operate independently with the added resources of the Music Group.

Following the announcement, Midas and Klark Teknik have stressed that their current worldwide distribution arrangements will remain in place, and that the brands will not be available through any other channels.

USA - Production Resource Group, L.L.C. (PRG), a leading supplier of entertainment technology solutions headquartered in New York, has acquired Procon MultiMedia Aktiengesellschaft AG (Procon), a major Europe-based entertainment technology company.

PRG Chairman & CEO Jeremiah "Jere" Harris and Procon CEO Morten Carlsson jointly announced the acquisition, which was made by MHG Media Holdings (MHG), an indirect subsidiary of PRG.
