Don Collins, one of Global's lighting directors, commented: "The demands on the studio had been constantly increasing and we were looking for a replacement desk that would offer us the features we required. Richie Mickan from LSC Lighting Systems showed us the ADB Vision console and we were immediately impressed at how easy it was to operate. We run a number of 'live-to-air' programs and quick access to all functions was a key criteria from the desk. Back-up service and support offered by LSC were also major factors in the equation."
A small window of opportunity existed between shows to undertake the installation. The old desk and ancillary equipment had to be removed; the existing 384 channels of analogue dimmers had to be converted to DMX input; the new control desk with a full line synchro back-up system had to installed and commissioned; a small DMX reticulated network had to be added to the studio and the total system had to be fully tested. LSC Lighting Systems supplied, installed and commissioned the ADB Lighting Technologies Vision 10/ST console with a Vision 10/RB back-up unit, 8 LSC Linklight 48-channel DMX-to-analogue converters and seven LSC 6-channel ePRO 25Amp dimmers for portable use in the Studio.
Seamus Hourigan, Global's technical operations manager, commented: "The whole changeover process ran seamlessly, which is a credit to Richie and the team at LSC. We are more than happy with the final result and look forward to many years of reliable service from the equipment."
