The UA-1000 is connected to the computer via a single USB 2.0 cable connection. Data transfer is a fast 480Mbps, which offers 10 fully duplex audio channels of 24-bit/96kHz which can be channeled and routed in various modes, including stereo and surround channel formats up to 7:1. An added feature is that the volume knob can be set to control the stereo master or alternatively all surround channel levels at the single touch of a button.
The UA-1000 has a very strong selection of connectors and interfaces for use in the studio, including four front-mounted high quality XLR/TRS mic preamps with phantom power, Hi-Z guitar, SP/DIF, ADAT, and 8-in and 8-out analogue ΒΌ" connectors on the rear panel. MIDI and word clock connectors are also included, along with a power connector for the built-in power supply.
The UA-1000 ships with multi-client drivers and a powerful routing matrix program for assigning and mapping audio inputs and outputs; this allows, amongst other things, audio entering the UA-1000 in one format to exit by another. For example analogue to ADAT transfers. The UA 1000 features zero latency monitoring and USB 2.0 makes it possible for very low operating latency which is ideal for use with soft synths and where low latency is critical for recording and tracking.
