Spain - Green Hippo’s Hippotizer Media Servers were the choice again this year for a magical projection installation on the Epson stand at ISE 2025. The project rigged a 2.2m mirrored globe, onto which AI-generated bright, floral and kaleidoscopic content was projected via three 4K, 20,000 lumen Epson EB-PQ2220B projectors. At the heart of the EcoSphere system were two Hippotizer Boreal+ MK2 Media Servers running as main and backup, supplied by Motion Mapping and Stage Sound Services (SSS).
UK-based, long-time Epson collaborator Motion Mapping brought its brand of spectacular to the project, which was presented as part of Epson’s See It, Feel It campaign. Motion Mapping worked alongside creative agency One Thousand to provide the technical delivery of the visual installation for Epson, whilst One Thousand focused on the actual visual content for the installation.
“Being a projection-based installation, the obvious software feature of Hippotizer in use was SHAPE, especially on the EcoSphere installation, where multiple projectors could be positioned, blended and lined up,” explains Motion Mapping’s creative director, Stuart Harris. “The Boreal+ MK2 Media Servers provided ample amounts of processing power and outputs to drive all the projectors in each area of the Epson stand.”
Elsewhere on the stand, a 3D wall installation featuring textured leaves on an L-shaped wall was projected – using 5x 30,000 lumen projectors – onto a main projection wall, which used nine 20,000 lumen projectors that were triple stacked; the front stand that utilised a single 4K 20,000 lumen projector; a triple screen area that used three 5,000 lumen projectors side-by-side; and a meeting room installation which used one Ultra Short Throw 5,000 lumen projector.
The hardware for these areas were run by an army of two Hippotizer Karst+ MK2 and four Boreal+ MK2 Media Servers, with Lightware Fibre Transmitter/Receiver sets and Signal Matrices, controlled using a MA grandMA3 Compact console and Adder XDIP matrix solution units.
“We designed and commissioned the equipment racks, which were built and pre-programmed back at head office in the UK,” Harris continues. “We then liaised with Epson’s on-site team in Barcelona working together to install all of the projectors, line them up and work with the set builders and technical teams.
“With a large number of outputs, there is a lot to do in a very short amount of time. With a very experienced team on hand to programme all the components required such as DMX for MA integration, MultiController, as well as the pre-visualisation features of SHAPE, all of the Hippotizers could be programmed quickly so that these time pressures were minimised. With a huge number of pixels on 4K outputs, server capacity was solid from Hippotizer and stable throughout the show, which gave the team great confidence.”
The eye-catching, varied content showcased Epson’s bright, high-spec projectors and provided statement pieces for people at the show to talk about and post on social media.
“The biggest successes would have to be seeing the impact that putting together these installations had on the footfall of Epson’s exhibition stand, along with the coverage that they received on social media,” adds Harris. “It’s been a pleasure working with Epson on their ISE stand again this year, and Motion Mapping hopes to continue this relationship to help Epson bring their creative vision to life at future events utilising Hippotizer Media Servers and their powerful features.”
