Lucas NANO 600
Germany - SUVs have become one of the hottest commodities in the automotive industry. Why? Because people love the idea of combining a sedan's comfortable on-road ride with an all-terrain vehicle's off-road capabilities.

Musicians and DJs have something similar in mind, as the latest global trend towards the "smart rig" attests. They want a sound system that is easy to transport, sets up quickly and delivers premium-quality audio - hence the rising popularity of mono columnar systems. However, a stereo setup is the better choice for many situations. Until now, musicians and DJs who were unwilling to compromise on quality and convenience had to buy two different PA systems.

HK Audio's LUCAS NANO 600 is billed as the world's first PA that can be deployed as a single column and as a stereo system. "LUCAS NANO 600 is to PAs what the SUV is to cars - a crossover sound system that combines the benefits of both worlds," says HK Audio.

Perhaps most remarkably, LUCAS NANO 600 raises the performance bar for both types of systems. The mono column delivers serious sound pressure - impressive 130 dB maximum SPL - and the same high-end audio quality customers have come to expect from the HK Audio LUCAS line. And with that, the manufacturer's claim that this featherweight 16-kg PA boasts by far the best sound-to-size ratio on the market certainly rings true.

The conventional 2.1 stereo setup can also be extended to a Twin Set by linking the two mono columns with one subwoofer each and two stacked satellites to configure a full-blown full-range stereo rig. This variant delivers crystal-clear sound and plenty of low end to entertain audiences of up to 200 people.

The satellites' 1" tweeters are equipped with the newly developed MultiCell Transformer. "For the first time, a speaker as small as this is able to deliver the audio performance of a much larger CD horn. This innovative technology even allows two satellites to be stacked properly for the best acoustical results," the company says.

For the other, the subwoofer features an internal bracing system developed by the HK Audio research team using sophisticated simulations much like those employed by aircraft and automobile designers to model vibrations. This is why the lightweight epoxy housing's bass response is as persuasive as that of professional wood enclosure.

"LUCAS NANO 600 is the perfect sidekick for every entertainer in the broadest sense of the word. The ultimate trendsetting smart rig, it's great for unplugged combos, one-man/woman bands, DJs, vocalists, guitarists and keyboardists. This multi-option system is also an excellent choice for MCs and other announcers as well as for restaurants and function rooms where a flexible PA is preferable to an installed system," concludes HK.
