A brand new concept in integrated acoustic ceiling systems, ‘i-ceilings’ is the latest development from the world’s leading manufacturer of ceiling products. i-ceilings utilize flat panel loudspeaker technology to provide a unique loudspeaker system which exactly matches Armstrong’s market-leading range of ceilings, to combine their existing aesthetic and sound absorption qualities with the acoustic benefits of NXT flat panel speaker technology. This allows for ‘invisible’ loudspeaker solutions which benefit from greatly increased sound dispersion, providing incredibly even levels of sound reproduction compared with the ‘hot and cold’ spots characteristic of traditional moving coil speaker technology.
Held throughout Monday 9 September, the second day of the four-day PLASA Show, the i-ceilings sessions will emphasize the many benefits of these incredible new loudspeaker products. Headlining the programme will be the Installation Europe Masterclass ‘An Introduction to Sound Masking’ (10.00 - 11.30am, Meeting Room 1, cost £30, or £20 when booking through CIE Audio), presented by Dr Ken Roy, senior principal research scientist for Armstrong World Industries and main developer of the i-ceilings process control software. This DSP-controlled system both enhances sound reproduction performance and provides customized active acoustics such as sound masking. Following this will be free sessions running throughout the day in Meeting Room 2.
"As the i-ceilings range has been developed and manufactured by Armstrong, who produce approximately 60% of all suspended ceilings throughout the world, this will be the first opportunity to exactly match the loudspeakers with the ceiling for a completely ‘invisible’ solution," said Chris Edwards, CIE-Group marketing manager.
