Stelzer will also be focusing on the technology, defence & aerospace sectors and also dealing with family controlled businesses.
On graduating, Stelzer began his career by starting a software republishing firm before merging this business with his family engineering firm where, as chief executive, he used this foundation to build a broad based industrial technology group comprising nanotechnology, defence & aerospace, lighting controls and energy management companies. The business was floated in 2004 on AIM as Polaron plc.
In late 2006, Stelzer appointed Cavendish to sell Polaron and the company was sold in early 2007 to Cooper Industries, a Fortune 500 US Industrials group. He became global head of Cooper Controls and was a founder member of Cooper's businesswide Technology Council.
In late 2008 he left Cooper to set up Silver Cloud Capital, offering strategy & M&A assistance to public/ private/ family controlled Industrial Technology businesses, leveraging his significant experience of M&A with both trade and private equity organisations.
Stelzer comments, "I am delighted to join Cavendish, the UK's leading specialist advisor to business vendors. I have spent many years in the engineering sector, both running my own business and working on the M&A side. Having acted as a company owner and also as an advisor, I have built up an insight into the company sale process. With the market now showing clear signs of recovery, there is an definite appetite again for lighting and related businesses and I would be delighted to assist other entrepreneurs in achieving a successful business exit."
