Lightfactor's Peter Coles comments: "W-DMX fits perfectly into our product portfolio. It was the right product at the right time and the fact that it won the PLASA Award is extremely well-timed and a further boost."
W-DMX - described as "taking wireless data to new levels" by the PLASA awards judges - has been developed by a team of leading GSM engineers from a GSM telephone manufacturer, who are now working for Wireless Solutions. Advantages of wireless data transmission include the robustness of the system, the ability to string multiple units together on the same bandwidth, and reduced interference.
The W-DMX unit features an algorithm that scans a frequency for potential interference. If detected, the device is automatically instructed to avoid it. For security, a PIN code can be entered into the W-DMX transmitter and sent to the receiver/s, which won't work if the PIN is not included in the data string - exactly the same principals as a GSM phone network.
