Italy - Robe LEDWash 1200s and LEDBeam 100s were specified by Italian TV lighting designer Sandro Carotenuto for the live shows in the latest Made in Sud comedy series. These were recorded in the 600 capacity Auditorium venue at the RAI TV channel's headquarters in Naples.

Made in Sud showcases the very best cutting-edge and emerging young comedy talent in the south of Italy, with the final episodes in each run of programmes recorded live.

Carotenuto - who has worked for RAI for 30 years and currently lights shows and events for their OB Unit all over Italy - used 35 LEDWash 1200s to illuminate the audience in this instance.

The 30 x LEDBeam 100s were used in two 6x9 matrixes either side of the upstage LED screens. They provided intense back-beam effects for certain camera shots - for which they were highly effective.

The streetlamps change colour in a chase, leading the way to the city. LED Lighting Solutions in Israel supplied all W-DMX equipment and lighting. Ory Yaffe of LED Lighting Solutions said, "We Could not install wires between the pillars, so wireless signal was the only option in this case. It works great and the signal is solid."

UK - In the four years since it began, The Great British Bake Off has become one of BBC2's most popular series. Lighting such a show may seem as easy as, well, baking a cake. But the simplicity of the show's concept belies the challenge that comes with rigging a set in the middle of a field, a challenge leading lighting supplier Stage Electrics stepped up to and conquered.

"The first series of The Great British Bake Off travelled around the UK and the logistical challenges involved were considerable," says Stage Electrics project manager Russell Payne, who has worked on the show since the very start. "A company that could handle the logistics of moving tents, lighting, power, etc, was needed. UK - ETC's PLASA stand visitors queued up for demonstrations of the new ETC Source Four LED CYC last week. With the help of a desert scene cyclorama lent by the Design Realisation students on the Technical Theatre Arts programme at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, ETC's fixtures product manager Jim Uphoff and colleagues showed how one scene can be dramatically changed to match different times of day.

Five Source Four LED fixtures with attached CYC adapters at the bottom, and another five at the top, were controlled through an ETC Paradigm touchscreen to produce different colour mixes, each affecting how the scene was perceived.

At London's National Theatre, lighting director Neil Austin used a similar setup on Liolá, using Source Four CYC fixtures to create a very slow fade from cool blue daytime to warm orange evening lighting over the course of up to half an hour.

UK - High Wycombe- based lighting rental specialist Siyan is supplying lighting to the current UK and European tour by chart-topping alt rockers The Editors, which is designed by Colin Ross.

In Europe, the lighting design continues the concept of a large 'specials' package which started during the band's summer festival tour.

It also sees a continuance of the successful on-going working relationship between Colin Ross and Siyan which dates back seven or so years including several Ross designed tours for The Manic Street Preachers, Travis and others.

The Editors 2013 summer festival rig featured lots of Robe LEDWash 600 and 1200s as well as PAR cans and proved extremely versatile, with Ross creating ambience and texturing with the interplay between tungsten and LED lightsources.

When it came to this tour Ross stayed with this provocative, more moody theme of lighting - the

World - Internationally acclaimed lighting designer LeRoy Bennett is exploiting the unprecedented brightness of Clay Paky Sharpys on Beyonce's Mrs Carter 106-date world tour.

Bennett's fast paced, dynamic design uses the pure, laser-like beams of an extraordinary 208 Sharpys, which successfully cut through more than 1050 individual luminaires.

Bennett cites Beyonce herself as the inspiration for his design. She'd requested a lighting-driven show that would deliver epic results. Bennett specified 446 SGM X-5 LED Strobe early on, which contributed considerably to making the Mrs Carter show the brightest ever measured (in lux output) on a concert stage. From the beginning Bennett knew he needed a luminaire that would cut through these super bright strobes and the Sharpy was the answer.

"I love the Sharpy's incredible brightness, beam size, and speed," Be
