The approval process involved full technical audits carried out by LEEA officers which led to some minor changes to processes to ensure best practice. Certified LEEA training for all staff was also carried out. All LTM workshop staff are now fully certified by an independent body to carry out hoist and lifting equipment assembly, inspection and maintenance.
LTM's John Jones reports, "We are upskilling to allow work on more complex projects. All LTM engineers are now LEEA certified with Team Cards which prove competence. At the same time LTM sales staff have been trained through similar training schemes.
"We have been working on this for over three years and are delighted to achieve full membership of LEEA, it will help as it proves competence, we have over 200 man years of lifting equipment experience and lots of knowledge but now we can prove our competence to clients with LEEA certification.''
Established in 1944, the LEEA has over 300 member companies worldwide and campaigns vigorously for higher standards of safety within the lifting industry. In addition to providing members with training and expert technical advice, the association works closely with organisations such as the Health and Safety Executive in the preparation of regulations and British, European and International standards.
