The outdoor entrance area now makes up the visual back-drop for the set
Austria - A debate on Austria's most explosive political issue takes place every Sunday evening as part of the widely viewed "im Zentrum" TV programme. The show is produced and broadcast by ORF and was recently relocated. The outdoor entrance area of their headquarters and central production facility in Vienna now makes up the visual back-drop for the set.

Outdoor RGB LED fixtures were chosen by lighting designer Reinhard Traxler to put a splash of colour on an outdoor reflection pond that is centrally located in, and the visual focus of, the area. ArcSouce RGBW LED fixtures from Robe were used to paint the facade of the building in a warm welcoming tone and to highlight the ORF logo and other decorative elements used in the show.

The lighting fixtures are all located on the outside of the building and the control of the fixtures is located inside the building and consolidated with the lighting control for the rest of the studio. It was essential that the installation would not require any cables to be pulled between the indoors and the outdoors.

Christian Allabauer, project manager at LumenRadio's Austrian dealer Lighting Innovation - Herman Sorger, identified early in the process the project a suitable candidate for the use of wireless control - "CRMX's reputation for solid performance and reliability together with the availability of IP rated units, as well as the lighting fixtures with integrated CRMX OEM modules, made it an obvious choice."

"We are an organisation well versed in radio technology and probably more sceptical than the average customer. We were looking for a rock solid system, as this broadcast cannot tolerate any downtime or operational disturbances. It would at the same time have to not interfere with the other radio traffic we have in the area. LumenRadios's Cognitive Coexistence technology fulfills our expectations," said Karl Nöbauer, Head of Studio Production".

"The IP65 rated units, the integrated OEM modules in the lighting fixtures, and Lighting Innovation's excellent support contributed greatly to the almost effortless design and installation of the entire system", said Manfred Wagner, ORF's point man on the project from the T-FSP-M department.
