"Given all the buzz associated with my move, you'd think I was a Russian spy that just defected or something," Engebretson joked during the NSCA Systems Integration Expo just past, where QSC first broke news of the appointment. "I want to extend all the best to my friends and colleagues at JBL for their help and support over the last five years, and give equal thanks to QSC for the trust they've placed in me, as well as the opportunity to work with truly creative people in one of our industry's most progressive environments. The days ahead will undoubtedly be exciting times for all of us."
Prior to JBL, Engebretson guided operations at Summit Laboratories, an audio and acoustical measurement facility specializing in sound system design. Other career highlights listed on his resume include time logged as vice-president of product development for Altec Lansing, and VP of R&D for Paramount Pictures. In March 2002, Engebretson received a Scientific and Engineering Award as part of the 74th Academy Awards for the concept, design, and engineering of the modern, constant-directivity, direct radiator style motion picture loudspeaker systems.
"Mark's presence represents a fine addition to the QSC family," QSC CEO Barry Andrews said, commenting on the occasion. "His achievements speak for themselves, while the sum of his experience and vast knowledge complement our goals and future direction perfectly. We welcome him with open arms, and look forward to many successes together."
QSC has also announced the appointment of Paul Kenline as communications manager. In his new role, Kenline will be responsible for overseeing QSC's advertising, external and internal communications, public relations and training efforts. Kenline has been a member of the QSC family for over five years, most recently as the senior technical trainer in marketing. Before joining the marketing group, Kenline was an engineer in QSC's R&D division. His in-depth knowledge of QSC's products and QSC's external voice makes him the ideal person to spearhead the company's communications efforts, say the company.
