Reaching the top spot in Italy's best-selling albums with Out, earning a gold record after just one week, marked a great success for the band led by Stash Fiordispino since forming in 2010. Stars in their own right, they have also been opening shows for international artists like Paolo Nutini, Gossip, Hurts and Atoms for Peace.
For the festival event the rental company All Access provided its ground-breaking MLA to Fare BIS Fare, service company founded by Giuseppe Bisbano.
The configuration adopted by PA manager, Paul 'Red' Talami , consisted of eight MLA elements per side (including an MLD Downfill) and four MLX subs per side. In addition he added two further MLA enclosures, stage right. Explaining the reason for the extra reinforcement, Red said, "While the configuration was properly sized to cover an area of 70 x 50m the sold out arena was 'unbalanced ' on the PA right. A wide area was beyond the coverage range of the main PA - stretching to over 120 degrees - so I opted for a small secondary array of two MLA boxes, resting on an MLX sub to cover this area out to the right."
This met the approval of the Kolors' sound engineer, Gianmario Lussana.
Commenting after the closing date he said, "I think the most appropriate description for this PA is 'in your face' - but not in a negative sense. That's exactly what it is! When you turn on this system your first reaction is to be afraid of it and instinctively you'll run to turn it down! But this PA is a point-source style system, with a mid-frequency range that is crisp and articulate."
In the case of the Langhirano concert, the facility was expertly managed by Red, who knows the system better than anyone else.
"He has achieved excellent coverage of the venue, fully taking into account the central walkway which brought Stash more than four meters forward from the proscenium. The result was great volume and in particular no feedback.
"Now I'm curious to hear how it handles a nice electronic music festival or industrial metal event!"
