UK - Macclesfield-based manufacturer Millbank Electronics (owned by Ampekko Ltd) recently supplied its distributor in Kuwait - Specialised Security Systems Co (SSSC) - with a sophisticated public address and voice alarm system, which has been installed into Kuwait's Interior Ministries Complex. As a challenging installation comprising 18 interconnected buildings and over 81 evacuation zones, SSSC, headed by managing partner Jacob Philip, was awarded the prestigious contract against much local competition.

The VA system designed and specified by SSSC centres on the new Millbank DSPac high efficiency amplifier mainframe. Pivotal to the installation's success, the DSPac enables enormous space saving potential as well as 84% Class 'D' amplifier efficiency. Offering extremely high power-density VA compliant solutions, the DSPac is a flexible 3U modular amplifier mainframe that will accept up to five DDA 250, Class D amplifiers. By virtue of its capacity, the DSPac maximises available rack space - in this case 20 simultaneous channels were housed in two slimline racks.

SSSC's managing partner Jacob Philip said: "We have specified Millbank product for a number of years as the brand is synonymous with quality and innovation. The addition of the DSPac further underlines our commitment to the Millbank range. This is a revolutionary product that offers enormous potential for installers, architects, engineers and consultants alike."

The DSPac is very simple to install and easy to operate, even for non-technical users. As a modular system it is very flexible and infinitely configurable. In addition, it maximizes security through its 'self monitoring' module, which automatically detects if an amplifier is not functioning, immediately substituting its back-up standby module. The entire mainframe system is housed in a compact twin bay, measuring only 38U in height, and is contained behind secure glazed doors.

The SSSC system has been designed to offer a full range of VA facilities across 20 different zones in the complex. An additional 20 pre-recorded messages have been built into the system to enable a host of other incidents and routine announcements. To further augment the rigid security, individual floor-level paging has been accommodated throughout; this equates to over 80 zones. The multitude of functions can be simply accessed and pre-selected via the master microphone console.

To further augment its multi-functionality, an integrated multi-disk Pioneer CD player provides music in selected zones for visiting VIP guests. The SSSC system was easily retro fitted, integrating seamlessly with certain components of the previous 2,200W system, including the existing loudspeakers and circuits.
