Germany - A number of new products have been introduced by Germany’s GLP: these include the Junior Scan, a stylish scanner unit designed for use in restaurant and entertainment centres, at trade fairs and in shop and architectural lighting. With these installation applications particularly in mind, GLP has opted for a lightweight plastic chassis. The Junior Scan offers a wide range of mirror movement (230° pan and 110° tilt). Other features include 15 dichroic colours (plus white), two multi-colour effects, a rainbow effect, 19 gobos (two exchangeable gobos) and a high-speed shutter.

The unit also features an integrated 4.5mW laser diode. This mini laser beam, which extends the range of available effects, is positioned using the deflecting mirror. The Junior Scan comes in two versions: the Junior Scan 1, with a 24V/250W halogen lamp, and the Junior Scan 2, with a 150W discharge lamp. The scanner can be controlled via DMX 512 or music-controlled in stand-alone operation.

GLP has also introduced the Easy Two Controller, designed for the operation of its two new scanners, the Junior Scan 1 and Junior Scan 2, but it can also be used, if desired, to control other devices in the GLP range. The Easy Two Controller was designed to provide attractive show lighting with limited programming time. To make the task easier, GLP has equipped the Easy Two Controller with a stand-alone program that allows users the freedom to vary things such as movements, colours and gobos individually. The speed at which the show modules created in this way play back can be controlled in audio mode or manually. Switchable effects such as strobe and blackout can be used at any time.

There are also two new fixtures based on the Ypoc series of moving lights: these are the Ypoc 250 Basic moving head and the Ypoc 250 Color Basic. In developing these economical luminaires, GLP says its developers have taken account of the needs of clubs, discotheques and Top 40 bands. Each of these devices is armed with an MSD 250/II discharge lamp, which, in combination with the high quality optical system, ensures a high degree of efficiency. The range of head movement is in each case the same: 540° of pan and 280° of tilt. Finally, GLP has also announced two new universal controllers for the control of high quality show lighting via DMX 512. The Messenger 1 can be used to provide simple but highly effective control of extensive set-ups comprising moving lights, colour changers and scanners. Up to 64 devices per show can be controlled using up to 20 DMX channels. The flexibility implied by the term ‘universal controller’ is supplied by an internal library containing the data needed to control the fixtures of a range of manufacturers. The Messenger 2 is the little brother of the Messenger 1 and is designed for shows comprising up to 16 devices and a total of 512 channels. It offers 24 dimmer channels, eight channels for strobes and up to 36 channels for moving lights or colour changers.

The ‘internal values’ include storage capacity for 48 scenes, 48 freely-programmable moving lights programs and 48 dimmer positions as well as 20 stroboscope programs and 48 scene memories. Like the Messenger 1, the Messenger 2 is equipped with a fixture library and is capable of storing data on Compact Flash cards as well as to a PC.
