New Rotterdam dance club equipped with HK Audio

The old Thalia Theater in Rotterdam used to be a cinema in a former life but was abandoned some time ago. Now, after several months of renovation, Rotterdam has a brand new dance club - The Thalia Lounge. This is not only a pure dance club but it can also be rented for corporate and live events. For this reason, the sound system needs to be very flexible, as it has to deliver a great performance for disco nights as well as for live events and speech reinforcement. Club owner Bart Den Ouden therefore decided to contact the Dutch HK Audio product manager Johan Meerman of Wils Muziekimport in Roosendaal. Den Ouden says: "I met Johan during an HK Audio demo in another disco here in Holland and from what I heard there I was really convinced about the quality of HK Audio, so I asked him to plan the PA system for the Thalia Lounge. The system itself was installed by Toon Dekkers of HK Audio main dealer Triple A and I am really happy with their service and the very clear and powerful sound. At approximately 115 dB on the dance floor, the system sounds completely balanced and you just do not have the impression that it is too loud. But what surprised me most is the great price/performance relation of HK Audio products."

For the main dance floor, Triple A installed four VT 212 II F (2 x 12"/2") cabinets, flown in pairs in the left and right corners of the main room. Subwoofers are two pairs of RL 118 (1x18") horn-loaded subwoofers, with four complementary LP 118 direct-loaded 18" subs for extra punch on the dance floor. A pair of VT 112 II F (12"/2") cabinets serves as a delay line. The VIP lounge is equipped with a total of eight white IL 8.1 8"/1" mid/high cabinets and two IL 115 15" direct loaded subs from the new HK Audio Installation Line, hung from the ceiling with HK Audio BWH 3 wall-mount brackets. The complete system is powered and controlled by HK Audio VX series power amps and five Digital Field Controllers. As a DJ monitor, Triple A installed a VT 115 X multi-purpose cabinet with AC 22 controller in passive mode.
