Proprietor Jaime Oliver has chosen a combination of Nexo's new Geo S12 cabinets and Geo D10, with Geo SUBs, complete with NX242 TDcontrollers equipped for EtherSound functionality with ES4 extension cards. He has also taken delivery of new Camco Vortex 6 amplifiers to power the system.
All equipment was delivered by HT Audiosistemas, Nexo's distributor in the Dominican Republic, and Nexo's own Celso Papadopulos provided systems training for the engineers of Acustica & Sonido. Almost immediately, they started to explore the flexibility of Geo Technology, varying their inventory for two very different events.
First was a beachfront concert, the final event of the Viva El Merengue, a major talent competition featuring 'merengueros' from all over the Dominican Republic and other countries performing merengue, the infectiously catchy national dance music. The show, which lasted nearly four hours, was attended by 12,000 people in an audience area some 150m (492ft) long.
Impressive results were achieved by a system configured with 12x GeoEO D10 and 8 Geo Subs per side, with 12x Geo S1210s for a delay system at 50m. According to Oliver: "Hearing the GEO D and S1210 for the first time, everyone was amazed by the coverage of the system."
At an employees' meeting for the beer manufacturer Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana, Acustica & Sonido provided a smaller rig comprising left /right arrays of 5x Geo S1210 + 1x S1230, with 4x Geo Subs.
Acustica & Sonido report that, since the arrival of the new Nexo cabinets, every weekend for the next four months is now booked. "Geo D has provided far more than I expected," says Oliver.
