OptiLED, which combines high-precision optics with advanced LED electronics, will work with the CLTC to identify emerging applications for LEDs and develop them to be utilized in residential and commercial settings. "Our objective at the CLTC is to help accelerate the development and market acceptance of new emerging lighting technologies through research collaboration with the lighting industry," said centre founder, Professor Michael Siminovitch.
"We are very excited to contribute to this important group and to know that our innovations will play a part in helping consumers and businesses conserve more energy through the use of LED lamps," said OptiLED president John Nylander. "The lighting world is indeed changing, and the California Lighting Technology Center will drive some of the world's most creative lighting applications. We're very happy to be involved in such a forward-thinking organization."
