Turbosound has announced the appointment of John Ellis as the company's new customer support engineer. His primary role will be to act as Turbosound's interface with installation contractors and acoustic consultants, working alongside customers to advise on system specification and design, with a particular emphasis on fixed installation projects.

Previously sales and installations manager at B&H Syscom, John brings to Turbosound his considerable practical experience of specifying and installing sound reinforcement systems. UK expansion at ETC sees the appointment of project manager, Iain Quinn and field service engineer, Martin Savage. Taking over from David Gray following his relocation to Italy as field project manager, Iain Quinn has a wealth of experience in the industry - his most recent position was as project manager at Fisher Productions, with further experience including lighting design assistant for The Lion King at the Lyceum, senior lighting technician and maintenance coordinator at the Millennium Dome and second production electrician on the Return to the Forbidden Planet UK tour.

Richard Mead has been named Flying Pig Systems product manager "for all things Pig," announced John Wiseman, vice-president of worldwide sales for High End Systems. Mead, who has a physics degree from Oxford University, has been with UK-based Flying Pig Systems for four years. During that time he was instrumental in the design and development of the Wholehog III lighting console, which is currently shipping in the marketplace. He was also a key code writer for the product.

Lighting industry veteran Todd Hucul has joined the staff at VLPS Los Angeles as shop manager. As a native of Winnipeg, Canada, Hucul began working for Westsun 13 years ago. When the company opened its first US office in Seattle, Hucul was there to serve as the operations manager. Later, he moved to Las Vegas, again to help set up the operation. "I specialize in streamlined, well-organized shops so technicians and clients can come in from anywhere and start functioning quickly and efficiently. I plan to apply that same technique to my new lighting shop, VLPS Los Angeles."

David Catterall has been promoted to managing director of Flying Pig Systems/High End Systems Europe and UK. Catterall has been in the lighting industry since 1985 and has worked in international sales for the past 15 years. He joined Flying Pig/High End in 1999 when the two companies merged. His first focus was on the integration of FPS' business with HES, and then more recently he took responsibility for HES European sales.

Mike Hanson has been named technical support manager for "all things Pig" at High End Systems' Los Angeles office. Hanson has been with the company for five years, joining after his stint on the lighting crew for Metallica's 1996-97 world tour. Besides his day-to-day support in the Van Nuys office, Hanson is involved with the ongoing Wholehog console training seminars, and helps out as programmer for a number of touring and television events.

Duff attended the Liverpool City Institute before graduating at Bradford University with a business degree. Following training with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in London and subsequent work as a Chartered Accountant he moved to Canada, where he became CFO of Pfizer Canada, transferring to the company’s corporate headquarters in New York in the mid-1980s.
