Canada - Following record sales growth in 2002, Pathway Connectivity has made another significant investment to further increase its ability to service the needs of its customers. Two new staff members have joined the company, each with a unique set of skills that will be visible to customers both in the near term and further down the road. Jon-Paul (JP) Bussoli will bolster technical support and Virginia Massey joins customer service.

JP is a graduate of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with a shiny new Diploma in Electronics Engineering. He will complete intensive in-house training and industry orientation over the next two months, after which he will begin to handle entry-level support calls.

UK - Shuttlesound, the UK distribution subsidiary of Telex EVI, has announced the promotion of its sales manager Sean Maxwell to the position of director of sales. Maxwell, who joined the company as a sales rep five years ago, will now assume a key role in Shuttlesound's strategic planning and corporate development. He told us: "One of my main responsibilities will be the positioning of Shuttlesound, both in the marketplace we currently operate in but also in terms of exploring new market opportunities which can offer us fresh potential."

His remit will also include further streamlining of the Shuttlesound sales operation, ensuring greater coordination between the sales office in south London and its team of representatives on the road.

USA - Mackie Designs has announced the promotion of Frank Loyko to senior vice-president sales, worldwide. At the same time, Paul Rice has stepped down as Mackie's senior vice-president of international sales and business development. Loyko will assume global responsibility for sales initiative across all Mackie Designs Inc brands, while Mackie's marketing group takes over business development initiatives.

USA - Lighting design consortium Lightswitch has announced that Greg Cunningham and Brad Malkus, based respectively in Los Angeles and Orlando, have been named Associate Partners in the organization. Both are long-term members of the Lightswitch team, and the move recognizes their individual contributions to the success of the company.

The move is just one in a series of developments for Lightswitch, which specializes in lighting and projection design for the corporate, exhibition, theatre, music, live entertainment, special events and architectural sectors. It recently opened an office in New York, giving it firm anchors in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Orlando from which it can more effectively serve its global client base.

Denmark - Martin Professional has appointed Henrik Sørensen as managing director of Martin Security Smoke, a fully-owned subsidiary of the company that produces and distributes computer-controlled equipment for smoke protection.

Currently managing director of Martin Manufacturing (UK) PLC, located in Louth, in the UK, Henrik will be returning to his native Denmark, but will retain overall responsibility for the manufacturing facility. He will also continue to oversee Jem Smoke Machines’ R&D activities, as well as Jem’s product management.

The change means that Martin Manufacturing will now be positioned under the Martin Security Smoke umbrella, yet will continue to supply smoke machines to the entertainment market through Martin Professional.

Lee has a wealth of experience in both television and theatre and has been involved in many projects with Coemar De Sisti Australia, including the role of project manager for the Melbourne Broadcast Centre (Channel 7) a turnkey lighting installation which Coemar De Sisti Australia completed in 2002. Lee is still active in the theatre and television industry and regularly operates lighting consoles for major events. Denmark - Martin Professional has appointed Stig Holst as its new international sales director, entertainment. Holst, 40, joins Martin Professional from a position as international sales manager at V. Guldmann, a Danish company specializing in automated lifting equipment for the nursing and hospital sectors, which operates a worldwide network of subsidiaries and distributors.

Holst’s area of responsibility at Martin will be international sales and sales support for the company’s extensive entertainment division. He takes over the international sales responsibility from Kristian Kolding who retains his position as Martin’s President and CEO. The position will take effect as of 1 April. Holst will be located at the Martin head office in Aarhus, Denmark.

In his new position, Dimitroff will be responsible for sales and support of the complete line of entertainment hoists, rigging products, and accessories. Additionally, he will conduct CM Motor Schools, hands-on seminars designed to familiarize workers with the proper techniques for inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing CM Hoists.
