Canada - Rapid sales growth, demanding tour support and a huge increase in tradeshow activity worldwide are the driving forces behind Adamson Systems Engineering's new restructuring plan, says the company.

In less than a decade, Adamson Systems has grown from a "family run" business occupying a modest rented location, to a successful international brand manufacturing in its own 37,000sq.ft factory. Peter West, Shuttlesound's new M.I. sales consultant in the south of England, has worked as a musician for ten years. One of his first jobs was as a sales administrator for Shuttlesound's parent company Bosch. More recently, he spent four years working for Shure's pro-audio division, as well as various other audio and AV specialist companies.

UK - Laura Bayliss, lighting designer at BDP, has won the Future Star category in the inaugural Inspire Awards which recognise women's achievements in the built environment.

The awards are open to entrants actively involved in architecture, civil engineering, construction or quantity surveying. The Future Star Award is aimed at individuals aged between 21 and 30 who have demonstrated significant personal achievement and have the ability to be role models of the future.

Italy - Martin Professional Italy has announced the hiring of Michael Hill as the company's new general manager. British-born Hill, who has lived in Italy for many years, comes to Martin Professional's Italian subsidiary from Erco Illuminazione, where he served as managing director from1988. USA - Martin Professional, Inc has appointed Bill Sims as the western regional sales director for the company's Public Spaces segment.

Sims brings with him over 25 years of lighting industry experience, his early years spent running his own lighting consultancy firm. After a 10 year run with Strand Lighting where he worked as architectural product manager, he became the regional specification sales manager for the Juno Lighting Group.

When not on the road, Sims, who started in the new position on 16 July, will work from a home office near Orange County, California while also spending time at Martin's West Coast office in Simi Valley.

Australia - Lighting control manufacturer, LSC Lighting Systems, has appointed Trevor Sykes to the role of research & development manager based in the Melbourne Head Office.

Sykes comes to LSC with an extensive background and impressive employment history, including being part of the LSC team from 1988-1999 as a product development engineer. Whilst at LSC he co-designed the Axiom, which was honoured with an Australian Design Award in 1993. Adding to this, he was also responsible for the design of another 20 Stage Lighting products.

USA - Theatrical engineer John Charles "Jack" Suesse died on 17 August following a brief illness. He was 64. For more than 30 years, Jack was associated with J. R. Clancy Inc, the oldest theatrical rigging company in the US, serving as president from 1986-2005. He then formed his own consulting firm, J. Suesse & Associates, and also served as a special projects advisor to Stage Technologies in London and Las Vegas. He was a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and was selected as a Fellow of the United States Institute for Technical Theater in 1993.

UK - Christie Digital has strengthened its UK sales team in order to consolidate the rapid development in its five core markets. Key to the new initiative is the introduction of a UK channel sales manager focused on supporting sales growth for Christie and Christie Partners offering systems from Christie's Business Products Portfolio.

UK - Software developer Stardraw.com has announced the appointment of Paul Clark to the position of software developer and designer. Prior to this, Clark had already been named as Stardraw's very first Certified Programmer for Stardraw Control in the latter part of 2006.

UK - L&SI has learned that David Caulfield has parted company Martin Professional Plc. Caulfield had held the position of managing director of the UK subsidiary of the Danish lighting manufacturer for the past five years. News of his departure came just days after Martin Professional issued a press announcement saying that Caulfield would be speaking at the company's press conference at the forthcoming PLASA Show.

The company's brief statement on the departure reads: "David Caulfield has ended his employment with Martin Professional Plc as of August 30, 2007. We would like to thank David for his efforts over the last five years as Managing Director and wish him the best in his future endeavours. A recruitment process for the position as Managing Director in Martin Professional Plc will begin immediately and it is our intention to fill the vacancy promptly."
