UK - James Thomas's Pixel LED division launches four new products at PLASA 2004 following the brand's most successful year to date. Sharing the stand with its core business colleagues from both American and British manufacturing operations, along with the new Pixel products being launched, the JTE team will be showing a selection of the industry standard JTE products, including trussing, ground support systems and its diverse range of theatrical lanterns.

Firstly the PixelPAR 24ec (enhanced control), a high power projector, utilizing twenty-four 1-3W Luxeon emitters in RGB and amber, thus providing a full spectrum output. The lightsource is the same as the popular PixelPAR 90(A) architectural fitting, and the unit uses the same streamlined mechanical housing. Taking advantage of new 3W blue and green LEDs combined with the 1W red and, for the first time, an amber emitter. The standard beam angle is four degrees with choice of six different holographic film discs to expand and widen the beam.

Enhanced DMX control offers advantages including the ability to set a selection of user-definable dimmer curves, ensuring ultra-smooth fading throughout the cycle. The curve information is stored in the head of each Pixel fixture. 16bit dimming gives the user a choice of dimmer curves to suit different applications, such as greater control of intensity at low levels.

PixelPipe 48ec (enhanced control), the first in a new series of Pixel products targeted at the retail/commercial lighting market, is a self contained linear Luxeon wash projector, with Ethernet or DMX control. Ideal for covering large areas, displays, signs and walls, at PLASA it will be illuminating the PLASA signage at the arena entrance.

Each 1200mm pipe includes four 300mm cells featuring 12 LEDs - RGB and amber per cell. Pixelpipe is available in a single row of pipe with base station and fitted with easy power and data in/out. It is also available equipped with six pixelpups, ideal for accent/key lighting. Each head and 300mm RGBA cell can be independently controlled or simply programmed as a whole.

Following on from this is the PixelPUP range (ec) Luxeon projectors, capable of indoor, outdoor and submersible applications. The fixture features a familiar PAR 36 footprint but offer all the benefits of LEDs, in a IP68 based housing. PixelPUPs can be clustered together as a mini six lamp bar(as used with pixelpipe) or used individually.

The Pixelline 110ec (enhanced control) is the industry standard Pixelline 1044 fixture's new 'brighter brother', designed for high output wash illumination, using five cells of RGB and amber 1-3W Luxeon emitters. It is double the output of the PixelPAR 90(A) in a linear package, complete with forced air-cooling, from the patent pending heat management system. Five cell resolution using RGB and Amber LEDs offers full spectrum reproduction. The standard beam angle is 4 degrees, and holographic films offer 6 options of expanding beyond this, which is also now available as an accessory for the Pixelline 1044.

PixelDrive v1.26 PixelDrive software is now a year old, used on many tours and events, it has been further developed as a simple, user-friendly method for mapping video and image effects onto the Pixel Range LED products. The latest version offers several new features including; drag and drop functionality of matrix devices, full rotation of all matrix devices, improved DMX efficiency. Preset playback eliminates the need for a lighting desk for certain projects, plus the addition of double byte character sets - for Japanese, Chinese, etc and a new range of generic matrix devices

Combining cutting edge technology with straightforward and familiar control, PixelDrive introduces lighting designers gently to the digital dimension that's taking the industry by storm. Multiple rig configurations become possible with up to 32 layers for control of different aspects of the led lighting system.
